Abigail Boone: Journal 2 - The Phenomenology of Prayer (1-29)

While reading the introduction as well as the first chapter of the book, "The Phenomenology of Prayer" I was able to get a better understanding of the elements that go into praying. One thing I learned was that an individual must decenter theirselves in order to be fully present with God. I grew up in a religious family and have always prayed, but after reading the first few pages of this book, I felt as if I was missing something. It is very interesting to me that there are so many different forms of prayer. Prayer connects individuals to their upper power, it allows them to be thankful for what they have and express what they think they may need in their life. So much more goes into prayer than just asking for something you want, and after reading the first few pages of this book it really helps prove that point.
