Abigail Boone: Journal 6 - Image & Pilgrimage in Christian Culture (1-39)

A pilgrimage is a devotional practice that consists of a prolonged journey. It has been around for years and years, teaching individuals the meaning of basic religious and cultural values. This chapter in the book helped me get a better understanding of why pilgrimages are so important and pinpointed exactly why people do it. Pilgrimages have to ability to show how a ritualized enactment can awaken religious meaning.  It is so interesting that people of different cultural and religious views have certain pilgrimages that are special to them. The book states that each year the amount of pilgrims increase, which shows that more and more people are on their very own spiritual journey. After reading, I found myself very interested in this topic and even found myself considering going on a pilgrimage later on in life.
