Madeline Hicks: Journal 12
My research paper is about long-distance hiking and tourism. I am researching them both and then writing about the similarities and differences between them. Long-distance hiking and tourism are very different from each other. One reason is the amount of time that it takes to do them. Long-distance hiking takes months or even a year to complete, while people are usually on vacation for only one week. Another difference is how people stay and spend their time while on these trips. Long-distance hikers have to camp in the woods, cook their own meals, and walk everywhere they go. Tourists, on the other hand, get to stay at hotels, eat at restaurants and have access to transportation. The one thing that they have in common with each other is that they both allow people to relax and take a break from everyday life. Long-distance hiking is more of a challenge and tourism is a more luxurious experience.
